Food
Today’s Gospel reading was about an appearance Jesus made to his disciples after His Resurrection. I read a homily from a friend and listened to the one when I went to church. Both made mention to the fact that in the first few stories of Jesus’ appearance, He was always eating. One jokingly said that […]
Personal Pray-er
Many months ago, I started meeting with a Stephen Minister. This is someone who is trained to walk along the journey with someone perhaps going through a hard time. It is spiritual in nature, but how much is up to the participants. I usually meet with my Stephen Minister every week, but we missed a […]
Litany of Trust
On this Divine Mercy Sunday, I was reading and listening to reflections by St. Faustina who was given the image of the Divine Mercy to share with the world. I came across a Litany of Trust. It was written by a Sister of Life who took the name of Faustina. This litany touched my heart […]
Unwavering Trust
Yesterday we had a truly blessed Easter. My sister, mom, and I all went to church. My mom doesn’t get out very much any more because she gets very nervous and confused. When we arrived at the church, the wind suddenly picked up. My mom was afraid getting out of the car, but my sister […]
Contemplative Lent
I was feeling stressed this afternoon, so when a caregiver came to stay with my mom I went to church. The Good Friday celebration was beautiful. There were 3 priests, 2 deacons, and about 20 altar servers. The church was packed and people spilled out into the gathering space and even into the meeting room […]
10 Commandments
Tonight for our prayers, we read the readings for Holy Thursday Mass. One reading was about the Passover. This made us want to watch The 10 Commandments with Charlton Heston. Luckily my sister found it on one of the channels she subscribes to. We watched part of it tonight with my mom until she got […]
God Time
Today as I was out and about running errands, I was about to drive by the church. It occurred to me that there was Eucharistic Adoration available. So I went in and spent some quiet, alone time with God. It was a refreshing and peaceful break. I Found God today in Eucharistic Adoration.
Accept, Access, Action
Today I listened to the Palm Sunday homily by Fr. Mike Schmitz. He did a great job of wrapping up the reflections of the past 5 weeks of Lent based on the book, “He Leadeth Me” by Fr. Walter Ciszek. The whole series is based on surrendering our lives to God. That includes acknowledging that […]
Clear the Blockage
We’re very happy that my mom still reads our devotion from “Jesus Calling” every night. The last few sentences from tonight’s reflection were particularly meaningful and we read it over again. “When your mind is stuck on a negative focus, you see neither Me nor My gifts. In faith, thank Me for whatever is preoccupying […]
Baptized
Today a friend shared a video of her 6 year old daughter being baptized. She is of a Protestant religion and her daughter decided after Sunday school that she wanted to be baptized. As a Catholic, being present for an infant baptism is always a beautiful celebration. For my friend to hear the request from […]
