Uncommon Strength

A friend sent me an encouraging note today. It was more of a prayer and blessing. Part of it read, “Blessed are the caregivers. Surely they will be given uncommon strength through the touch of an angel’s wings.” I loved that image. I certainly could use uncommon strength AND a reminder that we are in […]

Begin Again

The other day I heard a reflection about our ability to begin again. Every night we have the opportunity to review our day and hand it all to God in prayer, asking forgiveness for our wrongs. At the wakening of each new day, we are able to start fresh and live the day for what […]

The Works

The other day I bought a new handheld showerhead for my mom’s shower. She has not had much strength in her legs recently and it has been difficult trying to get her into the shower at all. But, she got up this morning with some energy and was moving pretty well. So, I seized the […]

Full Heart

We’ve been lucky to have a caregiver come over twice a week for a couple hours. Now and as time goes on, my mom requires a tremendous amount of attention and energy. I’m often exhausted. But we are committed to keeping her at home. I have tried to get more help in, but unfortunately have […]

Abundance

A friend of mine challenged me to go into the year with a word that I could keep in mind. I liked this idea better than a “resolution”. So I chose the word BREATHE. When I find myself stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, I have noticed that I am actually holding my breath. I need to […]

Understanding Visitor

Today mom’s hairdresser came over and cut my mom’s hair. We got caught up on holiday festivities, parenting, and caring for parents. She was so kind with my mom and so good to talk with. She was an understanding visitor and quite a blessing. I Found God today in a caring visitor.

Children in Church

Today was the Feast of the Holy Family. There were plenty of families in church this morning with young children and babies who were very vocal. In front of me was a pregnant mom, dad, and 3 young boys. The smallest one would walk back and forth on the pew from one parent to the […]

Framing Photos

After my father died, family members went through the hundred or so matted photos that my dad had prepared and took their favorites to keep. My grandson had several and for his birthday, asked to have them framed. Today he gathered up his stack of prints and I took him to the local craft store. […]

Got the Message

On my way to meet a friend tonight, I had just enough time to hear two songs on the radio. Both of them had the same theme of remaining close to Jesus through hard times and God being present in those moments. Then an email I read tonight included this scripture: Isaiah 41:10 ~ Fear not, for […]

Grateful Christmas

Mom and I got up bright and early this morning. She was so happy when I told her it was Christmas. We had some of the sugar plum bread for breakfast and actually made it to the early Mass. The music was beautiful with stringed instruments and a trumpet. I got teary eyed immediately and […]
