Today I read a beautiful post from a wonderful young woman I know. She talks about her husband, “Let me tell you about my best friend.. he took me to the dentist in the middle of a blizzard because of how much pain I was in, cleaned off my car for me, is picking up my medication today, and got up on his snow day and willingly decided to shovel me out of my parking spot.. Will you be my valentine?! Even when I’m really sick he still knows how to make me smile.” To me, this reflects true love. It is thinking about the other person and doing what is good for them. It is giving yourself totally to another person, knowing and trusting that they always have your best interest in their heart. It is not imposing pain on another person or allowing someone to inflict pain upon you. True love is selfless. As I read her words, it reminded me of the scripture:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
I Found God today in loving words from a wonderful young woman and a reminder of some loving words from God our Father.
