I try to get to the grocery store during times that are not too busy. However, my latest trip happened about the same time people get out of work and stop at the store on their way home. The check out lanes in the store I go to have what I like to call a traffic controller. When I reached the lanes, they were pretty full. I got behind a man whose cart was overflowing. The traffic controller showed him another lane that would be faster, so he changed to the next one over. After a bit, an older man got behind him with only 2 little pumpkins. The man with the full cart told him he could go first. I thought that was very nice. As the pumpkin man was checking out, a young man holding a few items came up to the man with the cart and asked if he could go before him since he only had a few things. The man said that was fine. But the woman checker did not think it was fine. She told the young man that he had just let the pumpkin man in front of him. The man with the cart insisted that it was OK. The young man stood there in front of him for a few seconds, then evidently found another option. He said nevermind and hurried off. The man with the overflowing cart never got upset, never said anything negative, just calmly made his purchase and headed out. I was impressed.
I Found God today in a very patient man.
