Today I had an appointment in the neighborhood of my parents old home. I lived there from 7th grade until I moved out of the state when I was in my mid 30’s. After my appointment I drove by the house. It looked pretty much the same as I remembered, but with a different front door. That got me started. I drove by one of the old houses my husband, I, and children lived in. I went through a park that I used to hang out in during high school. As I drove, the routes came right back to me. So did the memories. I recollected all the fun times I had with different people. I remembered some of the not so great choices that I made. Then I thought of the difficult times and got stuck there. My mind began to fill with hurt, anger, regret. I was listening to a Christian station on the radio and suddenly a song came on that I had never heard before. The words cut to my heart:

“Well, I wish I had a short term memory
Wish the only thing my eyes could see

But I can’t stop looking back.”

I felt this song came on just for me, just at this time. Here are some of the other lyrics:

I Found God today in an uplifting song just at the right time reminding me that He loves me no matter what and that my responsibility is to keep moving forward.
