Closing the Door

This morning my phone rang at a pretty early time. It was my son who is in college in another state. It was out of the ordinary that he would call so early. In the split second it took me to answer, I thought of several possible things that could be wrong. When I heard his voice, the first question I asked was “How are you?” After he said he was “OK”, I asked what was the matter. He has been having some trouble with his car door not opening and/or closing properly. It has been frigid and snowy where he is which adds to the problem. This morning he was going to take a friend to church and the car door would not close all the way. The latch would not work. Needless to say he was pretty frustrated. He was trying to figure out what to do with the door immediately, and when and how to get the car to a shop to get it fixed. We went over several options. After a while he decided the best thing to do right away would be to secure the door somehow, so we hung up. He called back moments later sounding cheery. Evidently when he went back out and was preparing to tie it in somehow, the door closed and latched. Now all he had to do is work out how to get it to a shop. I asked him if he thanked God for being so good to him. He said he had.

I Found God today in a problem that was speedily, although temporarily fixed.
