Recently my dad received a video course about Higgs boson, which according to Wikipedia is an “elementary particle in the Standard Model of particle physics.” My dad taught college physics for years. He has been watching the video course and reading the accompanying book and said that he needed to go back and review it to help him understand it better. Now – it is all mind boggling to me and I have a hard time wrapping my head around any of it. So, my dad gave me a lesson on electrons, protons, neutrons, and how scientists do experiments by colliding particles. It truly amazed me to realize the knowledge he has and that he still has the desire and ability to delve more deeply into these subjects. In our conversation, he said that really the ultimate goal of the scientist is to figure out how the world works. It seems to me that the more they learn, the more they realize that they don’t know. Discoveries in space reveal that our universe is much bigger than we can fathom. We talked about the dimensions that we are aware of and that perhaps there are more that we simply cannot understand. It could be possible that another dimension could actually be Heaven. It was a deep conversation that was humbling in many ways.
I Found God today in being reminded of the gift of knowledge that my dad has and thinking about the intricate way our world is formed.
