Un-decorating

My neighbor texted me this morning saying that he was taking down his Christmas lights. He wondered if he should go ahead and take them off the little tree that we both decorate and can see from our homes. I was sad, but agreed. A little while later I went outside and saw many people un-decorating. It was a beautiful day and people were taking advantage of it. I knew I should do the same. So, I helped my neighbor take the lights off our little tree and proceeded to put away all the lights and decorations I had outside. It was so nice to be outside and as a bonus, I chatted with neighbors as well. I really am blessed to live in this community. Once the outside was finished, I turned my attention to the inside. The cute little Christmas tree that my sister and I put up was still cute, but incredibly dry. It dropped needles if you just looked at it. After I removed the ornaments, I actually brought it outside to take off the ribbon and garland and lights, which I thought was very smart. This evening I decided to take apart the Advent puzzle that I had so much fun putting together. Honestly, I almost had just as much fun selecting the pieces to put in the 24 little bags and creating “surprises” for whoever puts it together next year. I didn’t think I would enjoy un-decorating, but I did like getting outside on a nice day, talking to neighbors, and creating a fun experience for next year. There are still some things that are left such as the creche and the Simpich dolls that I will enjoy a little longer.

I Found God today being happy.
