Wrapping Up Celebration Weeks
Today was my mom’s 89th birthday. She donned the tiara as we commented how she used to be a princess and now she is the queen-the matriarch of the family. We started the day with leftovers from yesterday’s party – deviled eggs and pineapple upside down cake along with fresh fruit salad with her favorite […]
Long Awaited Visit
Today my brother came for a visit. We could not believe that we had not seen him in 2 years. He was due to come for a visit, then he got sick. After that COVID shut everything down. My sisters and son also came over and we celebrated my parents birthdays. My mom is always […]
Double Hugs
Our neighbors came over tonight to celebrate my parents. When they arrived, we hugged. It was then that we realized it had been over a year since we visited in the house and hugged one another. We hugged again. It was wonderful. I Found God today getting double hugs.
The Fifth Dementia
My mother read an article in the magazine “Brain and Life”. It talked about the importance of music in the health of your brain. A band named the Fifth Dementia, is made up of people with different backgrounds and music abilities. But what they have in common is that each person either has a neurodegenerative […]
All Wound Up
This afternoon on family Zoom, my granddaughter was all wound up. She logged in on her own laptop that she uses for her Kindergarten classes. First she was lying down and said she was dancing. Spa Day Two
The past 2 days have been full of relaxation and conversation. It felt amazing to be pampered. And I enjoyed chatting with many different people. The Great State Fair
My parents wanted to watch something entertaining on TV tonight, so we went through some of the newer free movies. None of them sounded good. Most were rated R with violence and objectionable language. My dad asked if there wasn’t a good comedy or musical. That sent me to YouTube where I searched for classic […]
Unexpected Joyful Soul
It was trash pick-up time when I went for a walk in the neighborhood today. The trash truck was stopped about half a block from me as I turned a corner. As I got closer, I saw one of the workers sweeping up some debris from the road. I have never seen that before. He […]
Blessed Easter
It was a beautiful Easter in many ways. The weather was perfect. My sister’s and son came over to celebrate and we all dressed up. We tried to remember how we celebrated last year. Each of us had an idea, but no one could really figure it out. I think we were all pandemic traumatized […]
Breath of Fresh Air
It was an absolutely gorgeous day today and my sister was here, so I connected with a friend and went for a hike. We hadn’t seen each other in months and were teary eyed when we met up. We held our breath, faced opposite directions, and gave each other a big hug. Luckily we had […]
