As I was waiting in line at the post office today, I heard a little boy tell his mom, “When I turn 18, I am going into the Army just like you!”. The woman must not have like the idea too much, because he then said, “Dad said I can.” This simple little exchange really tugged at my heart. Obviously the boy really looked up to his mother – so much so that he wanted to follow in her footsteps regardless of what she said. I thought about what an influence parents have over their children. It reminded me of a saying for parents that I have heard over the years, “Do as I say, not as I do.”
I Found God today in how a boy looked up to his mother.
Must have reminded you of your son!
