Live in the Present

Today my dad and I had a conversation about the past. Sometimes we think back on things that we said or did and decisions that we made. We tend to regret some of those and re-think others. It is easy to slip into  “I should have . . .” or “I wish I would not have . . . ” He told me about an article that he read about getting older and how important it is not to live in the past. It is truly futile. We talked about how every decision we make had led us to the place that we are in right now. Any different decisions – or perhaps even different ways of handling circumstances – would lead us down a different road and we would not be where we are right now. It is best to learn all you can, pray, make the best decision you can, and trust that God is by your side every step of the way. The conversation reminded me of one of my favorite sayings, “The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it is called the present.”
― Alice Morse Earle

I Found God today in a reminder to live and love in the present.

  1. EVERY single time I see something about living in the present, I think of Fr. STEVE who was always “PRESENT TO THE MOMENT!!”
