County Fair

Today my 2 sisters, brother-in-law, nephew, and I went to a local county fair. It had a very small town, family, true farm feel to it. One of my sisters and her husband now own a small mini-ranch themselves and are trying to gain all the knowledge they can before they begin getting animals. They took a long look at the chickens and were happy to be able to see some of the species they are thinking about getting. We also saw the ducks, geese, turkeys, bunnies, llamas, sheep, cows, and horses. Some of them were in their pens and others were out. My other sister has a very friendly demeanor and was always talking to those handling the animals and taking pictures. After we had our fried oreos, my nephew was determined to win a prize at one of the carnival games. We followed him as he perused the games to find just the right one – which he did. It was a basketball game with a small basketball and hoop. If you got 1 of 3 balls in the hoop, you won a prize. That is the one he decided to play. We all watched in anticipation. The first one bounced off the rim of the hoop as did the second. The third, however, went in. He chose a stuffed unicorn like the one in the movie Despicable Me. The carny guy made a big deal of it and as soon as it hit my nephew’s hands, he held it up and appropriately declared, “It’s So Fluffy!” He planned on giving it to his girlfriend. All in all, we had a pretty great day at the fair.

I Found God today in the people caring for their animals and enjoying the fun day.
