While I was working at a retail store almost 30 years ago, I had a great group of friends. One of them we always called “Father” because we thought he would make a good priest. Sure enough, that is exactly what happened. He was in seminary in Rome for a few years and while there he had the opportunity to meet Pope Saint John Paul II and Mother Teresa who will be canonized a saint tomorrow. He shared some pictures of a time when he met Mother Teresa and wrote about it:
“When I was in seminary, studying theology to become a priest I met Mother Teresa several times, but only three times did I have the chance to talk with her. She was so tiny. It was like talking with with someone I’d always known (same with when I met Pope Saint John Paul II). These pictures were taken right after my father died. That day we offered Mass for my dad in a chapel inside the Vatican. Mother Teresa was present and prayed for my dad’s soul. Afterward she signed the Mass card which I still have. I guess that card is a second class relic now! She asked me when I would be ordained a priest. She told me that I have to come to India some day and say Mass for her sisters.”
My heart was moved by this special moment my friend was able to have, to recall, and to share. What a blessing.
I Found God today in a blessed moment shared by a friend.
