Tonight my son’s girlfriend sat down at the piano and started to go through my mom’s stacks of music. She came across a piece that my mother sang with her choir when she was in high school. She played a bit, my mom sang, and I attempted to harmonize. My mom explained that the song was performed at the end of each concert as a blessing to the audience. She found an album that was put together in memory of the choir director. As she was showing it to my son’s girlfriend, I was looking at emails and suddenly there were the words to the song. It was the “Priestly Blessing” that Moses taught to Aaron in Numbers 6:22-26: Ironically, it was also one of the readings that we heard at church on New Year’s Day. I thought it was a beautiful way to start the new year.
The LORD bless you and keep you!
The LORD let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you!
The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!
I Found God today in a well timed affirmation of a beautiful blessing.
