Today on Hallow I listened to Fr. Frankie Cicero tell his faith story. While his mother was pregnant with him, she learned that he had severe physical problems and the doctors encouraged her to get an abortion. Instead, she surrendered her son to God. During his lifetime, he has had many abdominal surgeries. But the biggest struggle he faced was when his father left him, his sister, and his mother when he was 18 years old. In fact, his father told him he wasn’t the son he wanted and that he wasn’t good enough to be his son. Fr. Frankie was understandably angry and left the faith completely. He followed a path that led to drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, and money. But, his heart was empty. After an encounter with God, he turned around and became a priest. It was a heartfelt, inspiring story of surrender and faith. You can see him tell the beginning of it here.
I Found God today in a dramatic story of surrender and faith.
