Today I met with my prayer group at one of the couple’s house. We discussed the upcoming Sunday’s Gospel, Luke 5:1-11. It is the story of Jesus telling Peter to cast his fishing net out into the deep water. Peter seemingly reluctant as he fished all night and caught nothing, does as Jesus asked. He caught enough fish to fill 2 boats. As one woman was talking about what it meant to her to “put out into the deep”, in mid-sentence she said, “Are those deer?” Sure enough, there were deer in the backyard. I spotted a buck with a nice set of antlers. Then another. Then 2 does. Then another larger, older buck. They were very close to the house. We watched them for quite some time as they pushed each other around and nuzzled each other. It was difficult to get back to talking. But we figured this was God’s gift to us today and it made us all happy.

I Found God today watching deer and appreciating the beauty of His creation.
