This morning I brought Communion to the woman I have been visiting on Monday mornings. I learned today that she used to be a nurse. When she talks to me, it’s always about her distant past, when she was young and helping to care for the household and her younger siblings. She told me today of the different ethnic groups that lived near her family. She and her family helped them out too when they needed it, just like any of the other neighbors. She said she never thought of them any differently – just as people who needed help. It is becoming more apparent that her upbringing helped shaped her career and desire to help others. I would guess that she was probably an amazing nurse.
I Found God today in the caring attitude of an elderly woman.
