Several weeks ago, a friend told me about a potentially available job. Her friend had been working seasonly for a tax preparer as the office person and was no longer going to be doing the work. They were looking for a replacement. When my friend told me about it, I checked into it right away. I spoke to the woman who was doing the job and asked her about the details. It sounded like something I could do, so I expressed my interest. A few days later I spoke with the tax accountant, then met with him. This morning I put on my nice clothes that I typically only wear to church and started that job. I am learning their computer system, the procedures, tax documents, and office protocol. It was a little overwhelming, being the first day, but I was starting to get the hang of things. I understand that it will be very busy in spurts and also slow at times. It will definitely be a big change for me, but I am looking forward to learning new skills and interacting with people. I am grateful that I have been given this opportunity.
