I prayed a rosary this morning particularly for a friend who is in the hospital. She has been there longer than anticipated and continues to struggle. I came to the 4th sorrowful mystery, which is Jesus carrying the Cross. As I pondered this image, I remembered the scripture from Matthew 11:28-30:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
I also remembered that Jesus has someone to help Him carry His cross. These thoughts gave way to the realization that my friend is not alone in her suffering. She is a very faithful person and likely has hundreds of people praying for her, helping to carry her cross and lighten her load. Christ promises that His burden is light. It may not look or feel that way at the time, but He is by our side every step of the way.
I Found God today in His words of comfort.
