My son’s wedding is less than a week away and that is pretty much all I can think about. We had been talking about what song to have for our mother/son dance and finally decided on “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. We both remembered that I used to sing it to my son in the car when it came on the radio. The lyrics speak of wishing for a beautiful, hopeful future, and to “know somebody loves you.” In the past when he was young, I would be that person. And now, while of course I still do, he will have the love of a wonderful wife. Today I went over to his house for a little practice session as I wanted to be somewhat prepared. I don’t really know how to dance, but my son does. He taught me how to follow his lead for different moves and little spins. It was a lot of fun and now I have the confidence that our little part of the evening will be very enjoyable. I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep back the tears, but I know he will be there to hold me up.
