Hedwig

A couple weeks ago, I met a woman who was introduced as Heddy. She explained that her real name was Hedwig after the saint of the same name. She felt her name was so unusual and not very appealing, so she went by Heddy. On October 15 as I was listening to my Hallow app, I learned it was the Feast of St. Hedwig. I remembered the woman and prayed for her. I saw her again today and talked with her a bit. She said her brother is a Deacon and had prayed for her as the Mass intention on that day. She said that in a previous year, a different brother was in Spain and texted her on that day to let her know that she would be included in the Mass intentions. While she didn’t particularly like her name, it was definitely memorable and she was blessed by the people who remembered her on the Feast Day of St. Hedwig.

I Found God today in a hearing how a friend is blessed by her unusual name.
