Divine Love Endures

I saw a quote today from Fr. John Waiss that touched my heart.
“In heaven, we will see God face-to-face, with a love that’s deeper and greater in intensity than anything we have ever experienced before. Divine love is what endures.”
I also heard that people are now so consumed with living a long time, we have forgotten that this life is part of our journey with the biological part of us naturally coming to an end. Infinity begins after that. These two thoughts to me were full of hope and joy.

I Found God today in a reminder of His infinite overwhelming love.

Biblical School Year 3

I had my first Biblical School class tonight. This year will be completely virtual. It was somewhat distracting to begin with as people figured out how to get into the class and how to make the application work for more than 50 people. But once we got past that and I was able to focus on just the teaching, it was pretty good. This lesson was on Jonah and Nahum – both who God sent to Ninevah. Jonah warned that the city would be destroyed if the people didn’t repent. To his surprise, the whole city did repent and were spared. However, after years went by, they reverted back to their evil ways. Then Nahum went back to them and reminded them of their imminent demise if they didn’t follow God. The crux of the lesson was that God is merciful when we repent. However, if we choose to continue doing what is wrong, we will have to face the consequences. It was good to delve back into the Bible in this class.

I Found God today starting another year of Bible Class.

Jeremiah’s Voice

I am excited to start another year of Biblical School tomorrow. The classes will be all online, so that will make it helpful for me anyways. Today I listened to a pre-class lecture introducing the prophets. The woman who gave the talk will be my teacher this year. She said that Jeremiah is her favorite prophet and that while much of the prophets talk about doom and gloom, they also give us hope. She quoted Jeremiah 29:11, which has been one of my favorites, “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope.” Words from Jeremiah have come up often lately – in unexpected messages from friends, in caregiver’s devotional readings and such. I am looking forward to learning more about him and his messages.

I Found God today hearing from the prophet Jeremiah.

Re-Fresh

The weather outside today was just about perfect. The temperature was in the mid 70’s, there was a slight breeze, and the sky was clear and blue. About a week ago, we scheduled to have the carpets cleaned today. So, we opened all the windows and let the air flow through. The whole house feels and smells refreshed. I was also able to get out and take a nice long walk. Enjoying the air and the exercise did wonders for my mind and mood.

I Found God today feeling refreshed.

Amusing Astronomical Birthday

Today was my brother’s birthday. It’s always hard to celebrate now after the attack on 9-11, but we try to make it cheery. My brother recently bought a telescope and has been tracking and photographing the events in the sky. When we were trying to decide what to get him for his birthday, we came across some astronomy socks. Seemed like the perfect gift. We got 3 pair – constellations that glow in the dark, a representation of the solar satellite, and whales in space. He opened the package and admired the socks while we were on Facetime. I wrote a birthday message to be included on the gift receipt. He showed it to us and explained that the large whale that was pictured on the receipt was hand drawn. The package also included bonus stickers. It was very fun and joyful watching my brother open his gift and seeing the little extras that the company added. That was more than any of us expected.

I Found God today watching my brother open a fun package for his birthday.

Faithful Family

Both my mom and dad went to a doctor today. One was planned, one was unexpected. Luckily, one of my sister’s was able to come and help. She took my dad while I took my mom. Happily, we all reconvened for lunch. Everyone is home tonight and doing well with instructions to follow up. My sister and her husband took the week off to enjoy a stay-cation for their wedding anniversary. I was so grateful that she came and spent many hours here today.

I Found God today being able to count on my sister.

School Starts

My grandchildren started school today. Well, virtually. The token first day of school photos were taken in the house. The youngest one even wore her backpack. The oldest started his senior year of high school. As the school is still getting the schedules in order, all he had was home room and was off for the rest of the day. He said it was very interesting and that they were getting accustomed to what the “new normal” will be. Mostly he is very much looking forward to completing his senior year. The middle child was on the computer until just after noon. And the youngest started Kindergarten. Ironically, she was online for the longest amount of time. My daughter in law is working from home right now. She said the youngest child sat next to her while she worked. She was happy they were able to borrow and additional computer so all 3 kids would have one. While she did her own work, she monitored a Kindergarten day and checked on the other two kids. And she said it went very well. I was in awe of her multi-tasking abilities. I’m sure there will be some struggles, but I am happy that they all started out the school year in a positive way.

I Found God today as my grandchildren were able to start school and it seemed to go well.

Strangers Prayers

I belong to a social media group of Catholic Caregivers that I came upon a while back. People share struggles, questions, advice, and prayer requests. Today the organizer of the group share what she is going through and asked how we may all be able to pray for one another this week. After reading one request, I decided to go ahead and put mine in as well. It felt good to get responses, encouragement, and promises of prayers from people I have never met. We all understand and feel connected this way.

I Found God today in encouragement and prayers from people I haven’t met.

Masks Do Help

About 10 days ago, my brother found out that a couple who he works with contracted coronavirus. Working in a store, they all come in contact with hundreds of people every day. Of course, there is a mask policy. However, the man who caught the virus wore a mask similar to a bandana that was loose and open at the bottom. The woman wore a full covering face mask and caught the virus since she lived with the man. Unfortunately, the couple had to be hospitalized and the man is still struggling. My brother said that he worked very closely with the woman much of the time. He has always worn one of the face masks that my friend made him and said he was also vigilant about good personal hygiene. When his work discovered that the couple had tested positive for the virus, everyone who had been in close contact with them were quarantined for 2 weeks from the exposure. That included my brother. We talked with him often. We prayed for him and for the healing of the couple. Today was my brother’s last day of quarantine and he never felt ill. He has also taken a couple of coronavirus tests that have come back negative. With all the debate about mask wearing, this situation clearly shows that wearing a good mask and being vigilant about hygiene does make a difference. I am very grateful that my brother did what was recommended and necessary for his health and that he is still well.

I Found God today as my brother did not get the coronavirus after an exposure.

Memories and Laughter

My sister has been trying to clean things out as she gets ready to move. She came over this morning and brought some photos that we may want. It was fun looking at the pictures from years ago and seeing the fun we had with friends and family. Tonight I talked with one of those friends and we reminisced. It was uplifting to remember and laugh with a friend who has been a part of my life for such a long time.

I Found God today remembering good times and laughing with a good friend.
